I’m starting to feel as if I may never need nutes. I have 7 week old babes in veg state. I haven’t been able to sex yet so I haven’t put them into flower yet. I watered them and tested the runoff. They’re registering at 1500-2000 ppm. I flushed them down to 1000 ppm. They are in 5 gallon fabric pots.
Ah. No need to flush the organic nutrients out of FFOF (FoxFarm Ocean Forest) soil. Organic nutrients are molecules that need to be broken down by microbes first. So PPM doesn't really matter when growing organically; as the molecules are being broken down, the plant is uptaking as needed. When you start feeding bottled nutrients, that is when you should monitor the PPM. Most bottled nutrients are synthetic and those molecules are already in plant-available form. That's when running a high PPM can lead to problems. Not sure if you're aware of this but you can change the light cycle to force flowering before sex has been determined. Just figured I'd say that since you say that's why you haven't put them into flower yet.
So just check ppm and start feeding nutes when it drops below 750?
I can start force flowering and continue to watch for plant gender?
750 should be good but it depends on the size of your plant. Yes, you can force flowering and watch for gender.
