First time grower. Gonna take a stab at this grow journal thing. I'm definitely going to be asking some questions along the way!
I noticed yesterday the tops of the leaves appear to be a lighter green than the other parts of the leaves. I've read this could be from overwatering, light burn (although I haven't noticed these leaves "praying" at all) or possible nutrient lockout (I've fed zero nutrients, only letting them feed off the soil).
There is a chance I've overwatered. I assume that will just happen being a new grower. For about 2 days the light was at 30%, but turned back down to 25% yesterday. This is my first grow, so naturally I'm worried about every little thing that appears to be not normal.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I tried to take some really good close-ups. Let me know if I should take more photos.

Looks good! New growth will start as yellow and then quickly turn to green.
Sigh of relief there, thank you!
On a side note, I'm a chapter away from finishing your book. Super informative but I love how you break it down in an easy to understand way. Thanks for all you do.
Good luck. First time grower here also. I am going to be popping my first seeds in a couple of days. I have the same light as you and will be working in a 2 x 4 x 7 tent in fox farm ocean forest. I have been watching Mr. Grow it videos on youtube for a few weeks. He does a great job explaining. I am sure I will be asking several questions here as well as getting his book.
Good luck with your grow as well!
Hi, all!
So, the little girls have grown some more, about two inches in height since I first posted this. They both look healthy, as far as I can tell.
One of the girls is giving me a bit of concern - looks like the leaves have an ever so slight curl to the bottom along the edges. My first time growing so I might just be overreacting from how the leaves develop. It's also quite possible that I overwatered and it's just a sign of stress.
I'll post some pictures for feedback. I'm sorry for these pics, I tried to catch what I think is curling but I failed with each photo. Please tell me what you think.
- 12 days since sprouting
- Happy Frog soil
- Distilled water still (run off PPM from last watering was 208)
Thanks!
That's completely normal. Nothing to be worried about. Nice job so far
@Mr. Grow It Thank you for taking a look. This being my first grow I find myself being worried about every little change I see. I guess that's natural and fades with experience. Thanks again!
Looks good. They are still babies my friend, you be ok. Not sure how you doing at this stage, but personally I use a spray bottle to water, and try to spray little away from mainstream to get to roots to spread, and got more control on how much you water. Looks like they may have stretched some, but thats fixable on your transplant. Im no pro, but I've had this leaf curl myself. Too much water i think, what else could it be. Well good luck and welcome. And I highly recommend Mr.Growits book.
Thank you, David. Yeah, it does appear they stretched some at first, but like you said, totally fixable during transplanting. I just finished his book actually. The book, his Youtube videos, and this community are all really great resources to have available. Really makes you feel like you have a few pros right along side you through the grow. Thanks for the feedback, and happy growing!
This is the best place to be to learn hands down. Lurked in the shadows for a few months and I'm finally going at it myself! Will be watching this thread as you're about 2 weeks ahead of me. Can't wait to see how you do. The best of luck bro
Always. You too my friend, happy growing. A year and half ago, I began and watched a couple different growers on youtube, and just didn't seem to get a learning experience. Until we found Mr.Growit. He's the best i've come acrossed, Hands Down, this guy makes it easy to understand and have a successful harvest. Have fun and happy, happy growing.
Wow. So these plants grow pretty quickly once they've gotten started. Today was transplant day. Being the first transplant I'm really hoping we didn't mess them up.
Things to do better next transplant:
- Make sure each pot has the same amount of base soil. Basic, right?
- Forget mycorrhizae has been added before transplanting the first plant, not after.
- Do better when burying to fix stretch. Didn't do so bad with one, totally blew it with the other.
- Check the water's pH before feeding.
But, I now see why you don't have to feed at first with soil. Runoff PPM for both ranged from 1300-1700. A lot of food for them to munch on for a while!
I'll drop some pics below to check out.
Peace
Coming along nicely!
I'm following on your plant journey! Hoping these ladies bring you a lot of joy. I'm just waiting for my equipment to arrive to start my first grow.
That's what's up, Happy Growing!
