Passive air intake & light coming through tent vents during dark period...

    in Grow Community

How do you guys handle light coming through the intake vents on your grow tent in a passive air system?

Do you guys use baffles? Do you build your own? Is there something to buy? I'm looking for an easy solution.

Looking for some guidance! My Grow tent will be in a room that gets light when it should be dark during flowering.

I was having the same issue with the passive ones since I face the same ligh when it’s dark for them condition, no matter the inside/outside configuration of the light covers for the passives ones I still had light coming in. So I DiY a cover for the outside with a thin old black t-xirt, cut that in half and wrapped the outside like a long coat and it worked.

When making this project saw a tip to buy a filter of a kitchen exhaust to use as a double filter for the ones already in the tent (to prevent even further any kind of dust/contamination from the outside) and I bought one for like 5€.

Was thinking about that issue this week and I’m gonna improve it by just cutting a mold of the outside of the round covers with the kitchen filter and then use the t-xirt to wrap it and with a couple of staples and that will make a perfect match.

Thanks for the answer. Kitchen filter t-shirt combo sounds like a great option. Do you have any concerns about the t shirt restricting airflow?

@JScooter2 had some and my idiot proof test was to select a thin one and cover my mouth with it and I didn’t felt too restricted 😂😎 today or tomorrow I’ll diy the final versions and post it here

Before and after, 10min and 5€ but let’s c if it works this way!

the indicators of air restriction should be and increase in temp/hum and neg pressure right?
