Hi folks! I'm back again with another Gelato clone harvest. This girl has super dense bud structures, so dense I'm worried about drying properly and may have to break up some of the larger branches. This Gelato is a 7th generation clone, so taking a clone from a clone taken from a clone taken from a clone etc. The only genetic drift issue I have noticed is that the later generations require more CalMag during flower. Day 74 Harvest. The green girls in the back are two Bubba Kush that still have a few weeks to go.

I posted earlier about a Gelato seed that I popped that had the odd leaves due to the genetic condition Variegation. I also noted that the buds seemed to be putting out a lot of white pistils even though the trichomes where cloudy with some amber. I took clones and flowered out the one that showed no signs of Variegation. But as expected, a bit of variegation did appear although not as much as on the mother. This girl was also putting out a lot of white pistils near harvest time so I decided to let her go an extra 8 days just in case I was harvesting too early. After another 8 days she was showing 50% or more amber trichomes and even more white pistils! I harvested and she is drying now, buds look great but I never had one go so amber before, this should be interesting.

I posted earlier about this girl and the Variegation, here's the post: I harvested her tonight and here are the pictures. She does not look ready and is still putting out a lot of white pistils, however there is between 10-15% amber trichomes in all the samples I examined. I would have left her longer just to see what would happen but things are getting backed up in the Veg tent and she has already gone 10 weeks in flower. Maybe the constant white pistils is related to the Variegation? She was also a very fast growing and stretchy girl, at least twice as aggressive as the last Gelato seed I popped and her clones are just as fast growing. I took clones from three different mothers and the clones from this girl are growing 2-3 times as fast as the others. She looks pretty wild here, but most supports have been removed and some branches broke getting her out of the tent.

Hi, Popped a new Gelato seed recently and I'm getting some interesting looking leaves. She is in week 5 of flower now and other than the funky leaves she is doing fine. I'm pretty sure this is just a harmless genetic hic-up called Variegation, let me know if you have any other theories. Here is a @Mr. Grow It article on Variegation:

Ok! I think I found the limit of my quart size pots when it comes to Death Bubba Kush clones. Here's the post about my first try at this which started as an attempt to save a plant with half of it snapped off from over aggressive LST ... ooops! Call me crazy but this time I did it on purpose with a healthy plant just for fun! Here's the girl: And here's the pot! She is 26 inches high from the top of the soil. The dead leaves are not so much from the fade after the flush but from the plant cannibalizing it self during flower. It was a razor thin line between starvation and nutrient burn. She is drying now and I will update this post with the final weight when I have it. Smells and looks great!

Yep, another clone gets the chop. This girl was a little different than all the other clones for some reason, not sure why. She is not as chunky as some of the others and took an extra 10 days to hit the harvest window and wow did she ever fade to black! I think she has a touch of the evil in her, she smells sinfully good and I now have a rash on my arm from all the resin I rubbed against doing the harvest. Here she is ... The Black Mamba!

I was checking on the grow today and my light in the Clone Zone is dead! I was using an old Viparspectra that only had a working Veg light and that finally conked out today. I have a very old very weak no name 50w burple light I kept around in case of emergencies in there now but need a better replacement. So I am looking for suggestions for a new little light that will only be used for clones and seedlings in a 1 foot by 2 foot area. And I'm growing on a budget so hopefully I can find something for less than $100. Any suggestions?

Day 77 for this girl and she's looking done. She's a tad bushy as I got a little lazy on the defoliation. After the pre-dry trim... She's in the dry box now, hoping for a 10 day dry. 😁

The clone that keeps on giving! Another Death Bubba Kush for the dry box! WooHoo! This is one of three in the tent and she is the runt of the litter. This is from last night while she was still in the tent surrounded by her bigger sisters. I got a good flush into her and got a much nicer looking fade than last time. Yummy!!😍 Harvest time!! After the pre-dry trim .... She's drying now. This is the hard part ... waiting!

Hi Folks! I just want to share the humorous results of my attempt to grow a Wedding Cake Auto indoors. I just had a small space available so thought I would try the Auto, the problem is my environment there. I have 0 humidity control where I grew this and near the start of the grow my humidity dropped down to 25% and I don't think it ever got above 35% during the whole grow. I cannot believe she actually lived and produced any bud. She would grow a nice looking set of leaves, but then before the next set grew in the previous set dried up and died, every time. She is in FFoF soil to which I added Gia Green top dressing and then some bottled nutes for the last two weeks. I didn't expect to harvest anything from her and just kept her going for humorous relief. Still not going to get much but it looks really dark purple and smells real nice. Anyway, here are the photos, she is hanging in the dry box now. I will be lucky if I get 5 grams from this, but it does look tasty! Meanwhile back in the climate controlled Bloom tent .... It's a jungle in there! 4 Kush Clones all different ages, the one in the back left has about another 10 days to go before harvest.

In a recent post I wrote about harvesting a girl that I was unable to flush but only feed her PH'd water for the last 3 weeks. This is a very robust thirsty strain with thick water sucking stems so I thought if any strain could skip a flush it would be this one. I did get a bit of a fade, but not as much as usual. Here's a link to that post: https://www.mrgrowit.com/forum/grow-community/another-kush-clone-harvest-no-flush She has been curing for about 15 days so thought I would give her a try. Beautiful looking buds with highlights of purple all throughout and she smells fantastic. It's a good smoke in that she stays lit all the way to the end and burns evenly. On the downside, the ash is definitely a tad darker than usual. Not black, but certainly a darker grey than usual. Also, she tastes good but not as good as usual and has a hint of harshness that is not normally there. (Just an FYI - This is a clone strain I have been running for a while so I am very familiar with what the buds should be like at this point) Conclusion: I will be flushing the girls from now on.

Hi Folks, I'm growing 5th generation clones of Gelato and had a new issue pop in generation 4. Through trial and error I think I have fixed the issue. I will put my solution at the end of this post. I have been growing in both plain potting soil with my usual nutrients and in FFoF with just PHd water and adding CalMag in Veg. I got the same problem in every plant at week 5 of flower, what do you think? She is at week 8 day 2 and I usually harvest mid week 10. The damaged has stopped spreading and new growth seems fine and the buds are looking better than ever. First I thought it was a lock out and flushed, then not enough nutrients, then too much. I was able to stagger through to the end with those test plants and got between 2-3 oz from each run but it was less than stellar. This girl was grown in FFoF soil with only PH'd water and CalMag right up into week two of flower, then I started adding FloraNova Bloom. Then right on que at week 5 the problem showed up. So I figured it could not be a lock out since I used FFoF and water and I was feeding less than 1000ppm of nutrients for just the last 3 weeks so it was not nute burn. The missing ingredient? CalMag! I noted it kind of looked like a problem I had with a Sativa in Veg one time when I was not using CalMag so I starting adding 4ml to every Gallon and the problem stopped progressing and new growth is looking real good. I have never had to use CalMag in Bloom before on any plant and I did not need to for the first 3 generations of the Gelato nor do I use it on my 6th generation Kush clones in bloom. Genetic drift? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Harvest day for Kush Clone with no Flush, just PH'd water for the last two weeks. Still managed to get a bit of a fade and I will be interested to see if I can tell any difference in the final product. I skipped the flush phase on this girl due to my failing health and if it was not for the help of my family I would of had to shut the garden down months ago. The good news is I finally got in for surgery 2 weeks ago and I am almost back to 100% now and feel great! I don't want to get into details but I had a bad reaction to the Astraz vaccine last May that required surgery and it has taken this long because of all the restrictions still in place at the hospitals.

Hello, me again. Here's something I have been playing with but never expected her to live this long. This is a big plant in a small 1qt pot. I had topped this girl early in training but later while doing some LST, I went and snapped 50% of the plant off... DOH!. Before I got around to throwing her out, she recovered a bit so I just let her sit and never transplanted her. Then a tiny corner opened up in the Bloom tent and I said what the heck and threw her into flower thinking this would finish her off for sure! It is now week 4 day 7 and she seems to be loving it .. after a bit of trial and error. She is incredibly thirsty and hungry, I found I have to give her 1 liter of feed every other day or she goes into full droop mode. I gave one feed of just plain PH'd water and the next day all the leaves had faded and two had died so now it's full nutrients every feeding. That's a lot of nutrients in a little pot but no nutrient burn or lockout yet although I expect it soon. Here she is from the top down. I have some wires around her in case she falls over lol. I will post updates on the fate of this girl.

This is day 57 for the first clone taken from the second clone that was taken from the original plant that came from a found seed. Looking at another week before harvest but a nice fade is starting. I added Dutch Pro Explode to this run and my buds do seem to be a little more frosty than usual. About the same size buds or just a tad bigger, maybe a little more aggressive top of the bud growth plus more signs of fox tailing and the buds are kind of gnarly (in a good way). That's a Gelato in week 4 photobombing this pic. (That Gelato is the second clone taken from the seventh clone which was taken from the second clone which was taken from the first clone that came from the original plant. No genetic issues noticed so far, so she is plant G1.2.7.2. Cloning for the win!) Say hello to Frosty McFrostface! On my first run with DPExplode I did not reduce my regular nutrients and end up with some burn and lock out. My PPM was pretty high in the 1500-1600 range This run I reduced my usual nutrients and it worked much better. My PPM in this run never got above 1400ish on feed days, I just feed PH'd water every other feeding like usual.

Hello, just harvested my Gelato clone and she is heavy with bud! I had a lock out problem with this girl and then started using Dutch Pro Explode but didn't cut back on the other nutrients and then things got real interesting. So this girl had lots of problems and was looking pretty sad but she kept going and really packed on the bud weight which I think was the Dutch Pro Explode talking. I have her clone sister waiting for space in the flower tent and I will be feeding her a lot less nutrients but still add in the Explode. Learning as I go. Gelato is a really nice strain ... but wow does it ever produce a lot of little leaves. A dream to smoke, a nightmare to trim. Meanwhile in the Veg tent ... Gelato on the left, Kush on the right (the found Kush seed that keeps on giving) Just an FYI on the Dutch Pro Explode: I am in Canada and bought it through Amazon.ca for $44 including shipping. After it arrived I received a second unexpected bill from Denver US Customs for $34. I will not be buying any more Dutch Pro products until they have a rep in Canada. $80 for a tiny bottle is a bit too steep. Anyone know how to get it cheaper in Canada?
